Funding Information Service
A good starting place to identify where your school might be able to get funding. There are three funding databases: FundView, BreakOut and CorporateCitizens.
BOC Where There's Water Community Environmental Grants
Where There's Water Community Environmental Grants provide funding to help the community understand, maintain, protect and improve their water environment. This includes streams, rivers, lakes, wetlands, estuaries and beaches in urban and rural areas. BOC provides all of the funding for the grants and the New Zealand Water & Wastes Association (NZWWA) administers Where There’s Water on behalf of BOC.
Lottery Grants
The New Zealand Lottery Grants Board was set up by Parliament to distribute the proceeds of state lotteries to the New Zealand community.
Pub Charity
Pub Charity is a charitable trust that makes donations to community groups and organisations, both locally and nationally, throughout New Zealand. Community funds are generated through the gaming machines located at hotels and taverns. The focus is, and has always been, that the funds generated in a community are returned to that community.
Global Education Fund
The Global Education Fund is a contestable pool of money allocated through the NZ government aid agency, NZAID Nga Hoe Tuputupu-mai-tawhiti. The GEF provides funding for small projects to develop awareness and understanding of global perspectives among New Zealanders, and to encourage them to become responsible global citizens.
Environmental Education Action Fund
This fund provides financial assistance to schools and community
groups
that can show their project uses education as a tool to encourage
people to engage in environmental action. This fund has an annual
disbursement of $55,000. The deadline for this funding round is April
the 1st. All information is available on the WWF website
www.wwf.org.nz.
WWF Habitat Protection Fund
Funding is provided for local habitat protection groups working to protect areas of high conservation significance in their community. Funding of between $2,000 and $20,000 will be considered and there are three funding rounds each year.
New Zealand Glass Environmental Fund
ACI Glass Packaging NZ is the sponsor of the NZ Glass Environmental Fund, which makes $25,000 available to schools annually. The fund was established to encourage studies which give young people an understanding of the importance and fragility of the environment. One of the aims of this fund is to encourage whole community involvement in environmental issues. It is a great option for EMAP schools, the deadline for expressions of interest is 31 March and full applications are due 31 May.
Ministry for the Environment Sustainable Management Fund
The purpose of the Sustainable Management Fund is to support the
community, industry, iwi and local government in practically focused
action that produces long-term environmental benefit. Its objective is
to make a positive difference to the environment by funding projects.
ASB Trust Fund
The objectives of the Trusts are to help organisations carrying out charitable, cultural, philanthropic and recreational work which is of benefit to the people of Auckland and Northland, including support for school/community projects.
Canon Environmental Grant
The Canon Environmental Grant gifts $15,000 worth of Canon product and/or business solutions to facilitate projects that will have a positive impact on New Zealand's Environment. From the latest cameras and lenses, digital video cameras, binoculars and photo printers to environmentally friendly photocopiers, multifunction devices, large format printers and document management solutions; Canon has a range of products that will assist you to undertake and document your environmental project.
Sir John Logan Campbell Residuary Estate
Sir John Logan Campbell's Residuary Estate is held in Trust in perpetuity to distribute the income each year as directed by his Will. The overriding requirement for each of these categories is that the purpose is of "public benefit" and that any grants are for a sufficiently wide section of the community. Applications are considered from organisations the part of the country North of Te Kuiti, Taumaranui, Turangi and the Mahia Peninsula.
Environment Canterbury Environment Enhancement Fund
The Environment Enhancement Fund is a contestable fund which provides grants of up to $5,000 to individuals and groups working to protect and enhance Canterbury's indigenous biodiversity. The Fund can also be applied to for recognition of past work. The fund is open from 1 June to 31 August each year and funding is announced that December.
DonateNZ
DonateNZ is a quick, easy-to-use website through which individuals, organisations and businesses can donate things they no longer want or need to schools, early childhood centres and not-for-profits that do. It is a great place for schools to get things they need for next-to-no-cost.
